ROKS Geobukseon II is coming soon

Get ready—Modern Warship (MW) will soon feature the new South Korean cruiser ROKS Geobukseon II, the most advanced and sophisticated representative of the missile cruiser class!

ROKS Geobukseon II is an experimental cruiser of the South Korean Navy, inspired by the traditional concept of a “turtle ship.” It features improved protection: the hull is reinforced with armor panels, which significantly increases its survivability in combat damage. The increased displacement limits its maximum speed, but the side thruster system ensures high maneuverability. It is armed with missile batteries and launchers, and is equipped with a unique reconnaissance helicopter capable of remotely guiding missiles to targets.

Let's learn more about it!

Armament:

 1. Hyunmoo-2C missile battery [1x1]🔒

 2. Hycore missile battery [2x1]

 3. Mark 45 Mod 4 gun (127 mm) [1x1]

 4. K239 Chunmoo MLRS grenade launcher [4x1]🔒

 5. MPUH helicopter [1x1]🔒

 6. MUH-1 Marineon helicopter [1x1]

 7. KSAM Block 2 air defense [4x1]

 8. Sea RAM air defense [3x1]

 9. L-SAM 2 air defense system [3x1]🔒

Overall, the arsenal of the new South Korean cruiser has a clear emphasis on the use of second-line missile strike tactics. The ship, of course, traditionally has one gun in the bow and a helicopter on a special platform in the stern. However, its main feature will be missile batteries with Hyunmoo-2C anti-ship ballistic missiles capable of ignoring anti-missile traps, as well as four K239 Chunmoo MLRS grenade launchers, which have high firing accuracy and projectile flight speed. Special attention should be paid to the MPUH helicopter, which performs target designation functions. With its help, it is possible to guide and call in a missile strike from the ship, while maintaining the relative safety of the cruiser. The ship's defense is provided by the Sea RAM and KSAM Block 2 air defense systems, as well as the L-SAM 2 anti-aircraft complex located in the shafts.

What is the gameplay of the new ship like?

The gameplay on the ROKS Geobukseon II may seem classic for any similar missile cruiser. However, thanks to its unique missiles, the new Korean cruiser is capable of delivering missile strikes over long distances much more effectively, while ships with similar missile batteries are always at risk of having their missiles intercepted by traps. Meanwhile, it makes sense to install Naval Spike ER missiles in an additional freely replaceable missile slot, which will provide two advantages: all of the ship's missiles will ignore traps, and they can be launched before the main missiles, allowing the Hyunmoo-2C to reach its target with a depleted air defense system. Don't forget about grenade launchers — thanks to their combination of good accuracy and projectile speed, they are ideal for destroying all types of surface and underwater targets at any distance. What tactics will suit it? In principle, any — in skilled hands, this ship can be extremely effective both on the front line of defense and in long-range attacks. Flanking raids are questionable — on such a large ship, it is unlikely that you will be able to sneak up on the enemy's rear unnoticed.

So, what's the bottom line? The new South Korean cruiser can safely be called the most modern interpretation of its class, capable of performing a wide range of offensive and defensive tasks thanks to its arsenal of weapons. It may not be suitable for even the most experienced admiral — its large margin of safety and impressive set of air defense systems will allow it to withstand several serious mistakes, welcoming training during combat and experimentation with tactics.
