CN Type 051B Shenzhen is coming soon
Very soon, a new Chinese destroyer, the CN Type 051B Shenzhen, will appear in Modern Warships (MW), which will set a new level of multitasking among its counterparts.
CN Type 051B Shenzhen is an experimental modular destroyer of the Luhai class, created to expand the practical experience of Chinese engineers in naval design and to develop a universal ship with a fleet control system. It is capable of performing the functions of a flagship if necessary. The ship has undergone several upgrades and participated in anti-piracy operations. The successful engineering solutions implemented in this project formed the basis for the creation of the Type 051C destroyer.
Let's take a closer look at it!

Armament:
1. YJ-18 missile battery [2x1]
2. YJ-12B missile battery [2x1]🔒
3. H/PJ-33B canon (100 mm) [1x1]
4. Type 726-4A grenade launcher [2x1]
5. Yu-7 (324 mm) torpedo launcher [2x1]
6. WZ-19 CAIC helicopter [1x1]
7. H/PJ-11 (30 mm) air defense system [2x1]
8. Phantom 3/051B air defense system [3x1]🔒
9. FM-3000N/051B air defense system [1x1]🔒

The new destroyer's arsenal consists of an extensive set of weapons, most of which can be replaced with other modules. Among the non-replaceable systems, the YJ-12B laser-guided missiles are worth mentioning. Although they are not particularly durable, a salvo of eight missiles is enough to successfully overcome the air defense systems of most opponents. The bow is equipped with an H/PJ-33B gun, which is now available for purchase in the in-game equipment store. However, there is nothing to prevent you from replacing it with any other equivalent weapon. The destroyer is also equipped with grenade launchers and torpedo launchers — two double slots for each type of weapon. Protection against air threats is provided by three Phantom 3/051B anti-aircraft laser systems, which are effective in close combat. To repel attacks from a greater distance, the FM-3000N/051B air defense missile system with a silo launch is used, providing a dense missile salvo. In addition, two H/PJ-11 air defense systems are located in the central part of the ship, which can be replaced with other modules of this class if necessary. A landing pad is traditionally provided in the stern of the hull for helicopter deployment.

So how do you play on this ship?
* * *
Pros:
- Good speed and maneuverability
- Versatile and customizable weaponry
- High potential damage per minute even with basic equipment
Cons:
- Weak air defense effectiveness against maneuvering aircraft

The new Chinese destroyer is truly a benchmark of versatility in terms of both armament and tactical options. Depending on the chosen arsenal, it can perform a wide range of tasks: from frontal collisions with other ships to specialized missions such as submarine hunting, flanking raids, and precision strikes.
However, it should not be forgotten that every ship has its Achilles' heel. In the case of the Type 051B Shenzhen, this is its insufficiently effective air defense systems against even relatively experienced attack aircraft pilots. However, the problem can be partially solved by installing an anti-aircraft missile or a gun capable of attacking air targets. However, a simpler and more reliable way is to stay close to allies with stronger air defense systems and try not to stray too far from them, as lone targets often become easy prey for enemy aircraft.
So what's the bottom line?
The CN Type 051B Shenzhen is an excellent choice for players who value flexibility and versatility. The decisive factor here is not so much the weapon configuration as the commander's ability to use it. It is precisely these destroyers that allow the player to maximize their tactical thinking and adapt to any situation on the battlefield.
