T3 Tiered - Our Commanders' Choice

This time, the article is all about you - as the captain of the ship, as the commanding officer of the fleet, and of course, as a valued member of Modern Warships community.

Because today, we present to you the results of the grand survey series "Tiering Tier 3"! 🎉

Before we jump into the results, some interesting facts for the curious 😉

• The survey was conducted over three weeks, from 24 July to 13 August, 2025.
• The survey covered 137 ships, 197 weapons and 167 aircrafts, released up to v0.94.
• 2,132 players from 89 Nations have submitted valid responses in this community feedback
• China, Indonesia, Russia, India contributed most to the feedback, followed by Japan, Korea, Vietnam and USA
• Over 95% were normal players, with 119 titled players → we consider this sufficiently representative of the player population
• Over 79% players were above level 45 → we consider our respondents experienced enough to provide accurate answers

For the cautious and conservative captains, if ever you find yourself in a position where you need to get the most out of your investment, take a look at the tier list below and prioritize your purchaes.

You might wonder why we don't show the submarines - we explain why below.

Aircrafts & Unmanned Vessels

Operating ships that deploy subunits can be very costly.

New commanders may find themselves lacking the resources to get what they really want.
That's why the general advice for newcomers is to invest in carriers after you've leveled up higher in the game.
(which is also why the Marine Academy rewards and Level Requirements for such ships are higher than others)

And when you do, we hope this list serves as a guide :)

What's next?

You may have noticed we didn't show you the results of weapons, especially the missiles.
That's because a lot has changed after the survey, especially the new subclass system and the SLBMs.
The change was so disruptive, that it almost made the results irrelevant.

This is why we plan to do another survey very soon.
And this time, we're determined to share the full results - we owe you that 🔥

We admit that we took a long time in preparing this article.
Please understand that there is a time for trial-and-error when doing new things at first; we are also learning as we go!
Which means, the next survey results will be prepared and published faster.
We fully understand being timely and punctual is important for this information to be relevant.

About Data Pre-processing

As much as we care about your opinion, we also care about quality.
In practice, this means that not all responses were used in the analysis.
This is a common practice in the field of data analysis and statistics, where removal of outliers and noises are necessary in creating a precise & accurate analysis.

For this survey series, two criteria were applied when cleaning data:

1. 'Straight-lined' responses (e.g. all 5's, all 1's, etc) were removed
   - ex 1. drop response if more than 2/3 are marked with one single answer (80% 'A's, 70% 'S', 67% 'C', etc.)
   - ex 2. drop response if more than 50% marked as 'F' (very bad) or 'X' (cannot answer) = trolls, not enough knowledge to compare, etc.
2. Responses with invalid player IDs were also removed
   - better representation of players
   - serves as a guarantee that respondents are attentive enough to enter them correctly
