IT Vittorio Veneto (C 550) is coming soon
Very soon in Modern Warships (MW) will appear IT Vittorio Veneto - an Italian helicopter cruiser, capable of breaking through the most serious enemy defenses like a born attacker!
IT Vittorio Veneto (C 550) was an Italian helicopter carrier cruiser, which for a long time served as the flagship of the national fleet. The main tasks of the ship were to fight against submarines and to ensure the operation of helicopters in unfavorable weather conditions. In 1982, the ship underwent modernization, during which it received new radar and electronic equipment, as well as reinforced armament, including powerful cannon anti-aircraft guns and air defense missile systems.
Let's find out more about it!

Armament:
1. Teseo MK2/E missile battery [2x1]
2. Teseo MK2/E missile battery [2x1]
3. RUR-5B ASROC grenade launcher [3x1]
4. A244 SLWT (324 mm) torpedo launcher [2x1]
5. RAH-66 Comanche helicopter [1x1]
6. RAH-66 Comanche helicopter [1x1]
7. OTO-Melara 76/62 Allargato (76 mm) autocannon [6x1]🔒
8. 40/L70 DARDO Type B air defense (40 mm) [5x1]🔒
9. RIM-67 Standard ER air defense [1x1]🔒
This cruiser is an ideal choice of ship, designed to quickly break through enemy defenses and no less quickly destroy the first enemy ships that come in its way due to its excellent for its class performance and armament arsenal.

What can the new Italian ship declare itself in battle? Earlier it was mentioned that the cruiser is a helicopter carrier and this is confirmed by the presence of two single slots with helicopters located in the rear of the hull. Initially, the RAH-66 Comanche helicopters are located there, but they can be replaced with absolutely any other model. Strike arsenal of the ship is represented by all the necessary spectrum of weapons required for active destruction of surface and underwater targets: two double slots for missile batteries, two torpedo launchers and as many as three grenade launchers - this is a weighty bid for success in the sea battle. And all of the above-mentioned weapons can be changed for any preferred tactics. Here is what can not be changed, and in principle is not worth it - the defense systems of the cruiser. Six autocannon OTO-Melara 76/62 Allargato (76 mm) are able to make accurate strikes on enemy ships at decent distances. Unfortunately, they can't shoot at air targets, but this task is taken over by the ship's rather serious air defense. In particular, five 40/L70 DARDO Type B points will help to protect the ship in the short-range defense zone. To defeat air targets at long range, the ship is equipped with only one, but no less powerful anti-aircraft missile system RIM-67 Standard ER.

What can the Italian cruiser show in battle?
The gameplay on this ship with the naked eye wants to compare immediately with the recent novelty - FS Jeanne d'Arc. After all, these two ships are both cruisers, and both are helicopter-borne. But this is not really a good comparison. If the Frenchman shows himself well with the support of other ships and in general can seriously rely on his helicopter group, the battle on IT Vittorio Veneto (C 550) makes sense to lead in the very front lines, literally breaking through the enemy defense line and using helicopters only for additional support, not much emphasis on them. However, do not always bravely rush into the thick of battle. Let the cruiser and has an impressive offensive and defensive arsenal, but against 3 or more enemies, even the most experienced commanders can not cope with it
What's the bottom line? IT Vittorio Veneto is more than suitable for strike operations, capable of sinking submarines and quickly destroying slow enemy ships with equal success. However, due to the specific set of unchangeable air defense, to repel massive missile and aircraft attacks will not be as successful as compared to ships capable of changing their anti-aircraft systems. However, this problem can be solved by promptly destroying the enemy aircraft carrier during a rapid breakthrough of enemy defenses, as well as the timely use of anti-missile traps.
